In the category of education, UP is the best domestic university in the ranking of THE

The University of Pécs was ranked 155th in the international ranking of the London-based, prestigious Times Higher Education (THE), which compares higher education institutions in nearly fifty developing countries. With this ranking, UP has become the best Hungarian rural university, as well as in the ranking of the same topic of previous years.

The University of Pécs was included in the Times Higher Education ranking called “Emerging Economies Rankings” and thus became one of the more than six hundred best institutions ranked from 48 countries. Competing institutions came from countries classified as “developing economies” and data from a total of 606 universities were considered in the establishment of the final ranking. Thus, it can be said that the University of Pécs is in the first quarter of the list, as the best Hungarian rural higher education institution in this ranking and among the Hungarian universities, only the Semmelweis University (64th) and ELTE (147th) are ahead of UP.

The ranking takes into account the same 13 performance indicators as the world ranking of THE. They examine individual university strengths in the main areas of activity: education, research, knowledge transfer and international appearance, “visibility”.

“Compared to last year, our university has improved more than 20 positions in this ranking. If I add to this that the number of universities in the ranking has doubled in a few years, it adds even more value to this result. We can also be proud of the fact that UP has become the strongest Hungarian university in the category of education. At the same time, I am convinced that we can move up from here and we will do everything we can to achieve this goal” - emphasised dr. Attila Miseta, rector of UP.
